Burot Beach, Calatagan Batangas trip had been so great! It was an epic long weekend in Calatagan and somehow a discovery for me. I just spontaneously found this hidden beach in Calatagan because of my high school friend’s post in facebook where they’d just recently went to; I find the place beautiful after Googling it. Reading random blogs gained me the Idea of a not yet develop paradise and so it was a perfect place for our TPAD (Tourism Planning and Development Research) so that was actually the purpose of my long weekend along with leisure.
In my opinion, Calatagan is a not-so-develop town at the heart of a community with only a simple way of living. In Calatagan, you will never find a typical convenient store like 7 11 or Ministop and other good establishment there, so you definitely need to buy things ahead because the chances of finding things are few although there’s a small grocery store and a not so packed market nearby.
Directions on getting to the beach made easy with the friendly Batangueños along the way.
As I have said the place is never develop. Expect a rough road in getting there, there is no electricity, no descent toilet and shower room but lucky enough for having at least a water supply, even a good cottage failed but there’s a table that could be rented and tent for 300. The entrance fee is 60php and 120php for an overnight stay. There’s also security guard in the entrance and a caretaker just strolling around.
We encounter a group of local youngster who were happily swimming and playing with the starfish, we randomly talk to them and acquainted ourselves. They were actually just living near and they do fishing for a living and so on. It was really nice to have met them. My friend tim enjoyed playing and swimming along with them while we were playing with the starfish. We only stayed there for 15-20 minutes then headed back to Burot. We requested the bangkero to please drop us off on the left most side of the beach, we continued swimming and playing with the sand, and of course took random pictures.
Unluckily, the weather wasn’t good. Strong wind and rain drops were slowly pouring when we decided to go back to the tent. 3PM was epically disturbing like a typhoon just arrived and ruined our tents; we were shattering then hurriedly pull off our tents, I was just sitting in the table and feels really cold and freezing as we were still wearing swimsuit that time. We hide ourselves on Nipa hut while waiting for the rain to stop apparently, the typhoon ruined our day. We felt hopeless and unsafe that moment so we decided to pack everything, the boys fixed our tents while we swiftly took shower and get dress.
Thank God we we're all safe after all. It was the most memorable out of town I had.
Our Trip budget is only 1000-1500php including transportation, food, entrance, boat ride and accomodation. For more Info/queries about Burot Beach you may contact the caretaker (#09156028907)
